DESCRIPTION:(1.25-hour drive/half-day trip) \nSeptember 26 th (Saturday; 8:30 AM-12:00 Noon) – Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge\, Saginaw\, MI\n(no park pass/fee required) \nWe will meet at the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters parking lot at 8:30 AM (bring snacks/drink). This amazing 10\,000-acre wildlife refuge is a migratory funneling location to behold\, with vast expanses of field\, forest\, and diked areas teaming with a wide variety of fowl and fauna. \nThe auto tour is 7 miles long and requires frequent stops along the way for your viewing pleasure. DESCRIPTION:(2.5-hour drive/all day trip) September 14 th \n(Monday; 8:30 AM-1:00 PM) – Tawas Point State Park\, Tawas\, MI (park pass/fee may be required) \nWe will meet at the Tawas Point Lighthouse area at 8:30 AM and from there travel the peninsula trail and lake shore where we should find an abundance of migratory birds and Monarch Butterflies. This is a light hike (1-2 miles of fairly level terrain). \nRequired: Binoculars and spotting scope (optional)\, layers of clothes\, a hat\, and bring a lunch/snacks/drink. Expect wind and changing weather/temperatures.
