Autumn Nature/Historic/Color Hike

October 20 @ 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm

(local/3-hour hike)

October 20th (Tuesday; 2:30 PM-5:30 PM) – Highland State Recreation Area, White Lake Township, MI (park pass/fee may be required)

We will meet at the front entrance gate parking lot at 2:30 PM. History buffs will appreciate the remnants of the Ford family estate, once a private retreat for the renowned industrialist Edsel Ford.

This massive 5,900-acre park lies within Oakland County and contains 10-plus inland lakes. With rolling hills, this park is a gem for a wide variety of plant and animal life. At this time of year, the fall colors can be striking with its rich tapestry of mature hardwood forests. This is a moderate hike/walk with rocky/root laced and undulating trails, and a rewarding but fairly steep climb to reach the Ford estate remains on Haven Hill.
